ACT
A specialized ACT plan is designed for each student with his or her particular strengths and weaknesses in mind. Students are assessed at the first session using data from previous ACT exams. The assesed data, along with data collected by the instructor, is used to develop a personalized progress plan. The plan is reviewed and adjusted (if necessary) as the student progresses toward their specific objectives. The following are examples of objectives students may be pursuing.
- Improve scores received on previously taken exam(s).
- Improve test taking strategy to maximize score.
- Work on specific sections and/or problem types to optimize score.
- Work through test anxiety issues.
Students practice the test taking strategies by taking old ACT exams. Focus is given to each section on the ACT (English, Math, Critical Reading, Science, and the Essay). Every student is different. Therefore, focus is given to meeting students at their instructional level in order to improve scores. If students have already had SAT preparation, then those skills will be incorporated into the specialized ACT plan.
On average, provided no learning disability is involved, most students attend five one hour sessions on a weekly basis. The number of sessions is kept flexible and is based on the student's need. Required materials cost approximately $30.
